‘The New Year has started on a great note for you, our newest Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG Jonathan Towuru’, Board Member of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan started his congratulatory note to the new Deputy Inspector-General of Police representing the South-South Zone whose appointment was announced today 8th January 2024, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.
‘This elevation is in order and it is a well-deserved appointment. I am so glad that you have made it to the management cadre of the Nigeria Police Force to compliment our great Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.’

May the South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria experience peace, calm, security, stability, and order under your leadership. The press statement by the Police Service Commission early today stated that ‘the Police Service Commission has appointed AIG Jonathan Towuru, AIG Zone 6 Calabar as Deputy Inspector-General of Police. He will be replacing DIG Daniel Sokari Pedro, DIG ICT and representing the South-South geopolitical zone in the Police management team.’
NAOSNP gathered that DIG Jonathan Towuru was born on 6th December, 1965 at Ouwodo kpokpo olomu town Ughelli South LGA Delta State. He previously served as Assistant Commissioner of Police state CID Enugu 2011, Deputy Force Secretary 11, Force Headquarters Abuja 2012, Deputy Commandant Police College Maiduguri Borno state 2014, Deputy Force Secretary 2019, Commissioner of Police Western Port Apapa Lagos 2022 and AIG zone 6 Headquarters Calabar Cross River State.
