Infrastructural Renewal: Oshinowo Emerges Best LCDA Chair at NAOSNP Awards
The Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mayor Dele Oshinowo, has emerged as the Best Local Government Chairman on Grassroots Governance for the year 2024.
The award was bestowed on him by the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) at a well-attended Annual National Security Conference of the association held at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Oshinowo emerged top among leaders of grassroot government, having distinguished himself as the ceteris paribus in governance. His excellent administrative prowess was noted as he singlehandedly transformed a hitherto unknown Agboyi Ketu into a city; an act that has attracted the attention and applause of the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who described the LCDA os one of the fastest-growing in the country.
It’s on record that since he assumed office as the Chairman, he has provided leadership direction, and impacted positively on the people of the community, turning around their decayed infrastructure to modernism, and giving people a sense of belonging in the Nigerian project.
Mayor Oshinowo was presented the well-deserved award by Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, Minister of State for Police Affairs, in the presence of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Onikan, AIG Adegoke Fayoade, Lagos Commissioner of Police, Ishola Olanrewaju; Chairman, Ovation Media Group Chief Dele Momodu and many other guests.
The award committee which has earlier toured the LCDA to assess Mayor Oshinowo’s performance, noted that
he excelled in the areas of infrastructural development, Education, Health, Environment, Agriculture, Social Development and Technology.
Among many of the developmental projects the Council has initiated and concluded, are a modern administrative block with state-of-the-art equipment, Greenwich Gardens estate two phases of 81 apartments, and another 20 apartments of 20 units of three-bedroom terrace duplexes with BQ. This brings the total number to 101 apartments.
Others are Raymond Estate, Sterling Heights, Undustrial Borehole, construction of Agboyi-Ketu Shopping Arcade, construction of Ketu Plank market, legislative building, as well as acquisition of five 500KVA transformers.
Oshinowo is also credited with the construction of 64 road projects. He has also empowered petty traders and widows funds to the tune of N125m in 2024 alone.
The performing LCDA chair has also seen to the distribution of JAMB/GCE forms annually to indigent students of the Council in addition to providing Free Bus Rides, Annual Children’s Day Activities, and Annual Bursary Disbursement.
The council under his watch also donated N1.5m to the management of Owode Market after a fire incident, with over 450 traders assisted in the business.
As part of the developmental efforts of his administration, a 400 capacity mini stadium has been initiated, and is at 70 per cent completion level.
Well learned, Mayor Oshinowo is a B.A. (Hons) degree holder in Business Studies. He has also acquired his Masters degree in Risk Management, both from the University of East London, United Kingdom.
He is a distinguished family man, and well deserving of his honours.
