Damenews In a bid to contribute its quota to decongesting traffic in Lagos, as well as enhancing the working conditions and safety of the men and women of the Nigerian Police Force, CWAY Group, a leading player in drinking water, food and beverage industry, announced today the donation of 50 units of police traffic booths to the Lagos State Command of the Nigerian Police Force.
The event which held recently at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja had top brasses of the force, management and staff of the CWAY Group and other critical stakeholders in security and transport in Lagos state in attendance.
Speaking on the rationale behind the gesture, Mr. Samuel O. Akinrimisi, Deputy Marketing Director, CWAY Food and Beverages Nig. Co. Ltd revealed that the move is also in furtherance of CWAY’s corporate social responsibility drive aimed at not only conducting business in Nigeria but also fostering meaningful relationships and contributing positively to the community.
“In recognition of the challenging conditions faced by our traffic wardens, especially within the police force, who tirelessly labour amid the bustling and often challenging traffic in Lagos State, CWAY Group has decided to extend a helping hand,” Mr. Akinrimisi stated.
“The donated police traffic booths serve a triple purpose: providing shelter to officers during adverse weather conditions, ensuring their safety amidst reckless driving behaviour on the roads, and promoting a sense of appreciation and support through the distribution of CWAY group products.
“As a responsible corporate entity that has been doing business in the country for over two decades, we believe in partnerships and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives that go beyond our business interests. The Nigerian Police Force deserves this extension of love, and we are proud to play our part in contributing to their well-being,” he .emphasized.
According to him, the decision to donate police traffic booths was a result of thoughtful consideration and discussion within the CWAY Group’s management. The company is determined to make a tangible impact on the lives of those who work tirelessly to maintain law and order. “This is just the beginning of our commitment to the safety and well-being of our security personnel, and we assure the Nigerian Police Force that more initiatives will follow,” Mr. Akinrimisi declared.
The Deputy Marketing Director also conveyed apologies from the Director of Admin, Mr. Tony Ojumoola, who was unavoidably absent, and expressed gratitude on behalf of the Chairman and COO of CWAY Group.
In his reaction to the gesture by the company, Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adegoke Fayoade Mustapha, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the CWAY Group. “I most sincerely applaud the CWAY Group and your sense of social responsibility. Indeed, I know CWAY right from Ota when I was the Area Commander of Ota.
Acknowledging the significant economic losses due to traffic congestion, Mustapha emphasized that the booths would play a crucial role in managing traffic and reducing the time spent by the public on the roads. “I assure you, these booths will be used efficiently to ensure the free flow of traffic in Lagos. This will go a long way to assist us, especially in managing traffic,” he remarked.
While commissioning the booths, the Commissioner further expressed his appreciation on behalf of the Inspector General of Police of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he expressed the readiness of the command in working closely with organisations for the security and development of the state.
