The Chairman of Ikosi Isheri LCDA Mayoress Samiat Bada has intensified her monthly intervention to the vulnerables across all the wards in her LCDA to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal in their lives.
On Thursday 17th of August 2023, food items which include Rice, Beans, Garri were distributed to residents in Ward A, B and C in Ikosi Isheri LCDA. The continuation of food distribution according to the Mayoress will commence from Ward D, E, F and G on Friday.
In an interview with reporter at the event, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada said;
“Before now, we normally stay at our local government, while our people from various community come to the council having announced on the radio and various platforms.
“This time, because of the effect of the subsidy removal, we feel a lot of our people will not be able to afford transportation fare to come to the local government. This predicated why we come all the way from the council to near and remote areas in Ikosi Isheri to distribute this food items.
“People come all the way from Arepo, some will come from Ajegunle Ikorodu side. This time we said no, we will be going to them from the council to get the palliative across simply because my heart is where my community is”. She said.
The founder of Kokun Foundation and Kokun Food bank Olukokun Adepeju who volunteered his precious time in assisting the Mayoress to distribute these food items as a veteran in humanitarian services said;

“This is not my initiative, this is Mayoress initiative. I am here to volunteer myself for this project. She is the one reaching out to Widows, single mothers, single fathers and the vulnerables in the community.
“The intervention has been amazing, even before my arrival I knew it is going to be something massive that is why am here. Am always there to support people that truly give out not just playing to the gallery or because what people would say.
“You can see the excitement on the faces of people. This is for everybody who is hungry, we are not selective in picking beneficiaries. There is a lot of challenges happening now”. He said.

The former commissioner for information in Lagos State who was nominated as a commissioner for the second term by the Governor Mr Gbenga Omotosho said since Food prices went up, transportation prices went up, medical prices went up, everything went up. The governor announced that he was going to do palliatives.
‘He did it. Fifty percent cut on transportation, free delivery for pregnant women in hospitals. Our local governments picked up from that place and ensure that vulnerable, the poorest of the poor, are given palliatives.
“That is what Princess Samiat has done for Ikosi Isheri residence. I think that it is something that all of us should applaud.
“From my own observation, this is a great initiative and you can see that everybody is happy about it. I want to urge more and more people to emulate what Mayoress has done. The rich, the people who are seeing what is going in the society at the moment should do the same”. He said.
One of the beneficiaries of the intervention in Magodo Phase ll, Ogunye zone Iya Afin Elizabeth Taiwo in an interview with reporter said;
“I am so excited even though this is the first time I will benefit from this gesture. This will go along way to alleviate suffering in the family. God will replenish Mayoress and the people in Ikosi Isheri LCDA and Lagos state”. She said
